This kettle does not work properly after only 10 months. The on/off switch does not operate properly. A total waste of money. Although it is still under warranty Alessi say they will take a month to check if this is my fault for not descaling it or a fault on the kettle. I have given it 1 star because the design is nice but apart from that there is nothing good to say about this product.September 2012 I was having a clear out in my kitchen cupboard and tried the kettle again before intending to throw it out and found it working?? Don't know the reason for this but so far the kettle is working normally. Very strange!

its a kettle, but its an Alessi kettle. You spend this amount because you desperately want it. I did just that and have no regrets, it does the job i.e. boils water quickly, looks darn good in my kitchen and is admired. The electric version doesn't whistle, not an issue for me as it switches off when it comes to the boil. I love it and have added the sugar bowl and creamer as companions. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? Well I would say its very indulgent when you could spend a fraction of the price on something equally efficient but when you buy these products you've probably been swayed on the aesthetics, design and the brand which is ultimately what you're paying for. For me its 5 out of 5.
